Personality: Franchise Operations Director
Though Scott doesn't do many shows of his own any more, he is an integral part of our staff. For the past 13 years, he has been responsible for the ongoing training of our entire DJ staff, the maintenance of all systems, and handles daily operations and sales. Scott always seems to be ready with a joke and a smile when you need it most. After over 13 years with Complete Music he has become irreplaceable.
  
What is your role as the Operations Director?
Basically, I am in charge of staffing, training, equipment upkeep, sales, and presiding over the total operations of the company. Being a DJ myself, and working full time in the office, meeting and speaking with Brides, I pass my passion and experience along with a Brides perspective onto the DJs. I also take pride in providing our clients with professional quality, updated DJ gear. There is nothing worse than having a DJ with cheap DJ gear that sounds horrible and doesn't work when you need it most! The one thing that has always kept us far ahead of our competition is our ongoing DJ Training. Our DJs never stop learning and we always challenge them to perform their best.
What about Complete Music has kept you working for them for over 13 years?
It is by far the best run, most professional job I have ever had. In a business where DJ Companies come and go, owners don't maintain control over their company, and anyone who has a CD Player and an internet connection, calls themselves DJs, Complete Music sets the standard for what a REAL DJ company should be. When I joined the team in 1996, I had some experience working for another company but quickly learned, I knew very little. The training I received was amazing. Other outfits just don't come close to providing the ongoing training and tools to be successful.
The owner, Dan Sims, started working in Omaha where Complete Music began and was trained under the CEO for the entire franchise, Jerry Maas. It's a rare fact that Jerry Maas is the first person to ever do the Duck Dance as an Icebreaker at a wedding back in the early 1970's! When they started franchising in 1981, Dan relocated to St. Louis and opened his doors in 1984, when there really wasn't such a thing as a professional DJ Service. Back then it was just guys with record players and some records. No training went into the job. Most DJs didn't use Professional equipment at all and did maybe twenty parties a year. Dan quickly built up the franchise to be the largest and most successful in the country. We currently provide the entertainment at over 1900 events annually! Each DJ does around 60 weddings per year! Most DJ companies don't even come close to that as a whole.
What Complete Music has done, with on -going training, using only Professional DJ Gear, and earning a living solely off of DJing is raise the bar time and time again hiring only the friendliest, most talented entertainers, providing the best on-going training, constantly keeping up with the times with equipment, music and trends, and aiming for excellent customer service from the first phone encounter to the last song of the night. No one in the office has less than ten years experience with Complete Music and Video.
I have enjoyed being a part of the most successful DJ Company in the nation and love reading our customer evaluations that say that we are the most professional and FUN DJ they have ever seen. They also often say that their friends and family have commented that their wedding was the BEST RECEPTION THEY EVER ATTENDED! My best friends have come from working here and some of the best memories as well. To be able to do what you love and get paid for it is so rare. That is why I work for Complete Music.
