Personality: Moderate
James is an experienced professional with a knack for organization and coordinating a smooth-running event. After a short hiatus, James returned to us in 2008 and we couldn't be happier to have him back on staff, sweating the small stuff and putting smiles on faces.
How would you describe your “DJ Personality” or “DJ Style”?
I would say that I am a moderate DJ.I really like to be involved in getting everyone out on the dance floor at the beginning of a party, but I also think that people are going to do what they want to do, and so I try to let people do their thing after a while.If I were asked to be outgoing, I have no problem doing that, or if I’m asked to be laid back, that’s ok, too.Most important to me is that everyone has a good time!
What is your favorite DJ memory? –or– What was the funniest thing to ever happen at an event?
That’s really hard to answer since there are a lot!Probably the funniest thing (and momentarily scariest thing) I’ve had happen was at a 50th anniversary party.The guests of honor were having a great time waltzing around the dance floor until somehow they got tangled up and both went down.I was scared to death that both would have to go to the hospital.They stayed on the ground for a few moments, but not because they were hurt but because they were laughing so hard!They jumped back up and continued dancing all night!
What is your favorite thing about being a DJ? –or– What is your proudest achievement as a DJ?
My favorite thing about being a DJ is definitely that moment when I know I’m throwing an awesome party.When I look out and see the dance floor packed with a smile on everyone’s face, and it doesn’t stop all night.Also, at the end of the night when the Bride and Groom or host tells me that I made their party.
What makes you unique / stand out as a DJ? –or– What are your specialties as a DJ?
All of our DJs our unique in some way, or else we wouldn’t be doing this.If I had to pick a specialty, I suppose I would say the lights.I love playing with them and switching them up.It may not sound like much, but trust me, if the lights stay the same all night, or even through one song, it can kill the mood quickly.
What is your favorite part of the night?
I suppose I answered this already.My favorite part is when I see everyone having a good time and knowing that I’m a part of it!I do also like the beginning of the night when I’m making sure that everything runs smoothly in the important events.
What is your favorite party song?
Again, very hard to answer since it changes frequently and with different crowds.At this moment it’s probably either Pour Some Sugar On Me by Def Leppard or I Got A Feeling by Black Eyed Peas.
Why did you become a DJ?
Truthfully, I originally started back in 2000 because I needed money and I loved music!Now, I do it because I love being a DJ!Where else can you get paid to orchestrate a party?It’s just so darn fun!
List one fun fact about you most people do not know:
I ran to the top of the Eiffel Tower in 1997.Yes, ran.Upon reaching the top I celebrated by throwing up over the top!They frown upon that, by the way.
